Mizoram rolls out house listing for Census 2027; Governor flags off operations in Aizawl

Aizawl, April 16 (UNI) Mizoram on Wednesday formally launched the House listing and Housing Census under Census of India 2027, with Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) inaugurating the state-wide exercise at Lok Bhavan, marking the beginning of the first phase of what is being described as India’s first fully digital census.
With the launch, Mizoram joins the rest of the country in undertaking the extensive house listing operation, a crucial preparatory step ahead of the population enumeration scheduled for next year.
Addressing officials and field staff, the Governor underscored the importance of accuracy and inclusivity in the exercise, urging enumerators to carry out their duties with dedication and diligence. He stressed that no household should be left uncovered and called upon field functionaries to clearly explain the enumeration process, particularly to those who may find it difficult to understand.
