Mizoram excise officials seize about 1 kg raw opium near Myanmar border

Aizawl, Feb 12: In a major crackdown on drug smuggling, officials of the Mizoram Excise & Narcotics Department seized 945 grams of raw opium along the Indo-Myanmar border, a senior government spokesperson said on Wednesday.
The seizure was made on Tuesday evening at a location between Zote village in Champhai district and Bulfek village in Myanmar, department spokesperson Peter Zohmingthanga said.
Three individuals were arrested in connection with the case. The suspects have been identified as Beirahnei (38) of New Colony in Siaha district, Chinsianmung (25) of Bulfek village in Myanmar, and Chinsiandawni (40) of Bethel locality in Champhai town. Zohmingthanga stated that the first two suspects were apprehended at the scene, and their statements led to the arrest of Chinsiandawni.
