Mithali, Kalpana honoured with ACA-VDCA stands

Visakhapatnam, Oct 7 (UNI) Every so often in sport, a gesture transcends statistics and scorecards — it speaks straight to the heart. And come October 12, at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam, such a moment will unfold when two stands are christened in honour of Mithali Raj and Ravi Kalpana — two names that shaped, stirred, and steered Indian women’s cricket into the light.
The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) made the announcement today, confirming that the unveiling will take place ahead of India's ICC Women's ODI World Cup match against Australia, a fitting stage for a tribute to two women who have worn the Indian colours with quiet pride and relentless purpose.
But here's the story behind the story — the spark that set this in motion. It came from Smriti Mandhana, the torchbearer of a new generation, who during the Breaking the Boundaries chat in August, casually suggested to Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh that women’s cricket deserved a permanent place of honour. Some words fade into the air; these words found a home. Lokesh took note, and in an act both symbolic and swift, the ACA turned that suggestion into history.
