Military-grade cyber patterns suspected in India’s navigation anomalies: Intelegrid ECC

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 4 (UNI) A string of navigation and communication anomalies across India’s civil aviation network, including a confirmed GPS-spoofing event involving an Air India Express flight, has prompted cybersecurity research firm Intelegrid ECC Pvt Ltd to issue a technical advisory flagging what it describes as potential indicators of military-grade electronic interference.
The organisation has emphasised that the advisory is precautionary in nature and is not intended to assign responsibility or claim causation. The Air India Express incident occurred on the Delhi–Jammu sector, where the flight was compelled to return to IGI Airport after pilots observed abrupt positional deviations, inconsistent waypoint alignments and erratic autopilot behaviour.
Subsequent assessment confirmed exposure to counterfeit satellite signals, marking one of the most significant GPS-spoofing incidents recorded in Indian civil aviation. In recent weeks, airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata have also reported multiple GNSS irregularities, strengthening the view that these disruptions form a geographically clustered pattern rather than isolated technical faults.
