Methamphetamine worth over Rs 5 crore seized in Mizoram

Aizawl, Sept 20(UNI) In one of Mizoram’s largest methamphetamine seizures, a joint operation by the Special Narcotics Police Station under the CID (Crime) unit of the state police and the Border Security Force (BSF) resulted in the seizure of 39.627 kilograms of methamphetamine at Seling on Thursday, IGP (Law & Order) and Chief Public Relations Officer Lalbiakthanga Khiangte said Friday.
The joint team intercepted a truck bearing an Assam registration near a petrol pump on the outskirts of Seling village in Saitual district, about 45 KM east of Aizawl. A total of 39.624 KG of suspected methamphetamine, valued at over Rs 5.15 crore, was recovered from the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Mohammad Jahir Hussein, (23) of Mangalkhali, Jubarajnagar, Dharmanagar Urban in North Tripura District, was arrested for illegally possessing the contraband.
