Messi in India: Football fever hits Delhi as Argentine legend wraps up tour

New Delhi, Dec 15 (UNI)Football icon Lionel Messi wrapped up his three-day India tour with a tour of Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium to roars of applause from thousands of fans who braved the chill and foggy air to get a glimpse of their favourite sports superstar.
The cheers at the soccer stadium somewhat compensated perhaps for the chaotic opening of the Messi tour in Kolkata. As the football legends stepped onto the field, they greeted local Indian players with handshakes and warm smiles, triggering loud cheers, flag-waving and a flurry of phone cameras capturing the memorable moment.
The presence of two more international super-stars Rodrigo De Paul and Luis Suárez, along with Messi, further fuelled the excitement at the stadium. The atmosphere turned electric within minutes of their appearance, said onlookers as crowds broke into roars of approval. Messi, was a picture of ‘captain cool’ as he strolled the greens, kicked balls into the crowded stadium and gave away autographs to chant the rhythmic chanting of his name – “Messi, Messi”.
