Message of safe building construction to reach every household: ADM

Dharamsala, Oct 8 ( UNI) Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Shilpi Becta on Wednesday said that a series of disaster risk reduction awareness programmes will be organised across Kangra district under the Samarth campaign, which will continue till October 31. The aim is to ensure that every citizen remains alert and prepared for disasters.
Inaugurating the awareness campaign at Government Senior Secondary School, Matour, ADM Shilpi Becta said that special programmes are being held in schools to mark Disaster Risk Reduction Day and messages on safe building construction will be
disseminated in all panchayats. Panchayat pradhans, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, government officials, trained masons, and voluntary organisations will jointly spread information on safe and earthquake-resistant construction practices to every household.

Officials said the seizure included a large cache of arms and materials suspected to be used for terror-related activities.

Haryana police tightens crackdown on drunk and rash driving after 4,000 fatal accidents

Chandigarh, Nov 10 (UNI) Alarmed by the rising number of road accidents in Haryana, the state’s Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur has ordered a state-wide campaign against reckless and drunken driving, calling the spate of crashes a “human-created calamity.”
According to police data, more than 4,000 people have lost their lives in traffic mishaps between January and October this year, five times higher than deaths from violent crimes.
