Meghalaya : Prof Sumarbin Umdor quits as Pro VC of NEHU

Shillong, Dec 16 (UNI) Pro-Vice-Chancellor of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), a central university in Meghalaya, Prof. Sumarbin Umdor on Tuesday tendered his resignation from the post.
Umdor put in his papers after four major stakeholders of the varsity - NEHU Teachers' Association (NEHUTA), NEHU Students' union (NEHUSU), NEHU Non-Teaching Staff Association (NEHUNSA) and Khasi Students' union (KSU) NEHU unit - asked him to resign from his post in the larger interest of the University and its stakeholders.
NEHU is in turmoil due to a leadership vacuum, with stakeholders demanding the removal of Vice-Chancellor Prof. P.S. Shukla, who has been absent from campus for a record 392 days.
