Meghalaya man arrested for posting bomb threat message

Shillong, Jan 23 (UNI) A 37-year-old man was arrested allegedly for posting threat messages to plant multiple bombs in the mountainous state capital of Meghalaya, police said on Thursday.
Edward Maiong was arrested on Thursday afternoon from his temporary residence at Lower New Colony under Laitumkhrah Police Station, for posting bomb threat messages from his mobile handset, the police said.
“The sender of the message had identified himself as being a part of ‘Ri-Bhoi gang’. His links with any militant outfit cannot be ruled out at this juncture as there is incriminating evidence against him,” Vivek Syiem, the district police chief of East Khasi Hills, said.
