Meghalaya: Hunger strike by NEHU students enters 5th day

Shillong, Nov 9 (UNI) The indefinite hunger strike by students of a central-funded North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in Meghalaya, demanding the immediate resignation of Vice Chancellor Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla and removal of the four varsity’s officials, entered its fifth day on Saturday, even as the students vowed to continue their protest until their demands were met.
One more member of the NEHU Students’ Union (NEHUSU) on Saturday has been hospitalised and his condition is reported to be serious. Many students appeared weak and were sitting down in the tent but were determined to continue with the indefinite hunger strike.
Several students in the past few days were hospitalised after undergoing the hunger strike which began on October 5 outside the Vice Chancellor’s office. This morning one of the students was shifted from the venue to the Shillong Civil Hospital.
