Meghalaya CM urges Lapangap villagers t delay harvesting crops

Shillong, Oct 15 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today appealed to residents of Lapangap village in West Jaintia Hills district to delay harvesting their crops in a bid to maintain peace and security along the Meghalaya-Assam border.
In view of the ongoing situation in Assam-Meghalaya border areas, Abhinav Kumar Singh, the district magistrate of West Jaintia Hills, today clamped total curfew under section 163 BNSS along the entire Assam-Meghalaya border areas within district on October 16 and 17, 2025, to prevent any law-and-order situation.
The order restricts movement of people in the border areas in the district, unauthorised procession or unlawful assembly of five or more persons, and carrying or display of any object made or adapted to be used as weapons or any instrument which could reasonably be used to injure, intimidate or create public disorder in and around the entire Assam-Meghalaya border areas.
