Meghalaya CM appeals for peace in Garo Hills, Cabinet to meet on Thursday

Shillong, March 11 (UNI) Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has appealed to the citizens of Meghalaya, especially of Garo Hills to maintain peace, law and order.

"Based on the prevailing situation Government has decided to cancel/postpone the elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC). Further we will be calling all political parties and stake holders to discuss the different issues and try and work out solutions taking everyone onboard … once again I urge citizens to pray and maintain peace," the Chief Minister posted on X.

Congress earns another ‘Stain’ after emergency by defeating women’s reservation bill: Sinha

Patna, Apr 17 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha slammed the Congress and opposition parties after the Women’s Reservation Bill failed to pass in the Lok Sabha, saying the party had brought upon itself “another stain after the Emergency.”
Sinha alleged here that by defeating the bill, the Congress had once again betrayed women’s rights. He claimed that a conspiracy was hatched to defeat the Women’s Reservation Bill just by a margin of just 54 votes in the Lok Sabha.
