Medical shop owner held in Karimnagar for selling counterfeit tablets

Karimnagar, July 12 (UNI) In a major crackdown on counterfeit medicines, the Drugs Control Administration (DCA), Telangana, arrested R Venu Gopal, managing partner and competent person of Venu Medical Agencies in Sai Nagar, Doctors Street, Karimnagar, on Friday, for allegedly dealing in spurious drugs.

The arrest followed the seizure of counterfeit ‘Levipil 500’ tablets (Levetiracetam Tablets 500 mg), which falsely bore the name of reputed pharmaceutical manufacturer Sun Pharma Laboratories Ltd. Upon investigation, the tablets were confirmed to be spurious and not produced by the company as claimed.
