MEA clarifies EAM Jaishankar's remarks on Op Sindoor; calls out 'misrepresentation of facts'

New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) The Ministry of External Affairs today sought to highlight the “utter misrepresentation of facts” over EAM S Jaishankar’s remarks two days ago on Operation Sindoor.
The MEA said that "EAM Jaishankar had stated that we had warned Pakistan at the start, which is clearly the early phase after Operation Sindoor’s commencement”.
“This is being falsely represented as being before the commencement. This utter misrepresentation of facts is being called out,” the ministry said.
The MEA’s response came after Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Saturday slammed the Narendra Modi government accusing it of "informing" Pakistan ahead of strikes on terror infrastructure and calling it a "crime".
The former Congress president while sharing a video of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, questioned how many aircraft the Indian Air Force lost as a result of the information shared with Pakistan.
On his social media handle X, Rahul Gandhi said, "Informing Pakistan at the start of our attack was a crime. EAM has publicly admitted that GOI did it". Who authorised it? How many aircraft did our airforce lose as a result?"
Notably, India on May seven launched Operation Sindoor and targeted nine terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK), killing more than 100 terrorists.
