Mayoral reservation for 29 civic bodies to be announced on January 22

Mumbai, Jan 19 (UNI) With the results of municipal elections declared across Maharashtra, attention has now shifted to the selection of the “first citizen” of each city. In this context, the official reservation draw for the mayoral posts of 29 municipal corporations in the state will be conducted on January 22 at the state secretariat in Mumbai.
According to a communication issued by the Urban Development Department of the Government of Maharashtra, the draw will take place under the chairmanship of the Minister of State for Urban Development. The process will begin at 11.00 am in the conference hall located on the sixth floor of Mantralaya.
Through this draw, mayoral posts across the 29 municipal corporations will be reserved for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, women, and open categories. The reservation outcome will determine eligibility for the mayor’s post in each civic body.
