Massive devastation in Mizoram due to thunderstorm & hailstorm

Aizawl, May 26 (UNI) A recent severe thunderstorm, accompanied by repeated hailstorms and squally winds, caused extensive damage across Mizoram, affecting at least 4,726 buildings and structures.
Of these, 201 homes were completely destroyed, state disaster management and rehabilitation minister K. Sapdanga said on Sunday.
Minister Sapdanga reported that 630 homes, while not completely destroyed, have been rendered uninhabitable by the severe winds and hail. An additional 3,895 homes require repairs to be made livable again.

Women for trees campaign in Manipur

Imphal, June 23 (UNI) A tree plantation campaign “Women For Trees” continued with a Tree Plantation Programme held at Kabowakching, Nambol on Monday.
The programme saw enthusiastic participation from women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the aegis of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), along with local residents, who actively took part in planting saplings at designated locations near Kabowakching Makha Leikai Pukhri Achouba, where a Water Body Rejuvenation Project is being undertaken under AMRUT 2.0.
