Maryland-based Sonatype opens its India’s Innovation Hub in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Nov 10 (UNI) Sonatype, Maryland based leader in AI-driven open-source cyber security, on Monday announced the opening of its India’s ‘Innovation Hub’ in Hyderabad, marking a major milestone in its journey to advance innovation in software supply chan security.
The new Innovation centre located HITEC City , will serve as Sonatype’s largest and fastest-growing R & D hub globally, housing over 200 engineers, product leaders, data scientists and AI experts driving advancements in AI/ML-based software security, cloud-native development, and open-source intelligence, the company said in a relase here.
Representing a major milestone in Sonatype’s global expansion, the centre was inaugurated by Sanjay Kumar, Special Chief Secretary ( IT& Industries), Government of Telangana in the presence of Sai Krishna, IT Advisor to the IT Minister, Sonatype’s global leadership team, including Bhagwat Swaroop, CEO, Mitchell Johnson, Chief Product Development Officer, Abhishek Chauhan, Head of India and Senior Director of Technology and Megan Lueders, Chief Marketing Officer.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay said, “With its strong pool of talent, culture of innovation, and industry-friendly policies, Hyderabad continues to attract the world’s top technology firms. Sonatype’s new Global Innovation Center is another milestone in this journey. By next year, Hyderabad will reach its first milestone of 500 GCCs, creating thousands of high-value technology jobs, reinforcing the city’s position as a global hub for talent and innovation.”
Bhagwat said the Hyderabad GCC will play a pivotal role in advancing Sonatype’s Nexus platform, enabling nextgeneration automation, scalability, and enhanced customer experience.
“India is leading a global technology transformation — not only as a hub for engineering excellence, but as a model for how nations can embrace AI responsibly and securely,” he said.
Abhishek said that “Our Hyderabad Innovation Hub represents Sonatype’s belief in the power of local talent to make a global impact.”
“This isn’t just a new office — it’s where some of the brightest minds in engineering, open source, and AI will help shape the future of secure software development for the world,” he added.
With its Hyderabad centre, Sonatype is set to play a key role in nurturing local innovation, strengthening cybersecurity capabilities, and creating new opportunities for AI and software engineering talent.
The investment further deepens Hyderabad’s growing reputation as the home for next-generation digital engineering and secure software development in India.
