Marathwada records 128.2 pc normal rainfall

Sambhajinagar, Sep 9 (UNI) The Marathwada region has recorded 128.2 per cent of its normal rainfall for the June to September period, with a total of 722.2 millimetres (mm) against the average of 679.5 millimetres, according to the daily rainfall analysis released by the Revenue Department.
Beed district recorded the highest rainfall at 153.9 percent of normal, receiving 686.0 mm against the average of 566.1 mm, according to data released at 10.06 am this morning. Between June and August, Beed received 478.9 mm, which is 121.5 percent of the normal 394.1 mm. However, September rainfall remained low at just 9.3 mm, which is only 18.0 percent of the monthly normal of 51.6 mm.
Jalna district followed with 145.1 percent of normal rainfall, recording 730.9 mm against the normal 603.1 mm. From June to August, the district received 543.8 mm, 117.9 percent of the normal 461.3 mm. In September, it received 37.8 mm — 88.9 percent of the normal 42.5 mm, with 3.8 mm recorded on the reporting day.

Permits and licences of two cabbies revoked for overcharging American tourist

Mumbai, Feb 13 (UNI) The Sahar police have completed the process of cancelling the taxi permits and driving licences of two drivers accused of overcharging an American tourist Rs 18,000 for a journey of barely 400 metres. The proposal has been forwarded to the Regional Transport Office for further action, an official said on Friday.
