Marathwada rail boost: Centre clears key doubling project

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Aug 6 (UNI) The Center has approved Rs 2,179 cr to double the 177-km Aurangabad-Parbhani railway line, a move hailed by Maharashtra Energy Minister Atul Save as a historic leap for Marathwada's development.
Save stated this critical infrastructure project would transform regional connectivity, directly linking industrial hubs like Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) to the rail network. This is expected to attract investment and strengthen local industries. Existing freight centers at Jalna Dry Port and Daulatabad will gain enhanced access, accelerating cargo movement and enabling seamless transport of local goods to national markets.
The doubling will also establish an efficient alternative route on the Mumbai-Secunderabad corridor, benefiting passengers and businesses. Increased train speeds, reduced travel time, and expanded service capacity will improve daily commutes and commercial activities.
