Marandi seeks FIR over paddy procurement scam in Gumla

Ranchi, Dec 16 (UNI): Jharkhand opposition leader Babulal Marandi on Tuesday wrote to Chief Minister Hemant Soren seeking registration of FIRs against officials allegedly involved in large-scale irregularities in paddy procurement under the state’s Dhan Adhiprapti Yojana in Gumla district.
In his letter, Marandi cited a probe report which flagged manipulation of farmers’ records, misuse of the e-Uparjan portal, and procurement shown in the names of marginal farmers on land not owned by them. He alleged that paddy was procured at inflated quantities, causing losses running into crores, while genuine farmers were deprived of benefits.
Marandi demanded suspension and prosecution of responsible district supply officials, block-level officers and data operators, and called for transparent procurement across Jharkhand to ensure farmers receive fair prices.
