Maoist ammo dump busted in Odisha reserve forest bordering Andhra

Bhubaneswar, Oct 15 (UNI) The District Voluntary Force (DVF), a special constabulary unit of the Odisha Police, today busted an ammunition dump suspected to have been used by the Maoists for illegal manufacturing and repair of weapons in forest areas bordering Andhra Pradesh in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected Odisha’s Malkangiri district, police said.
“On basis of specific information received, an intensive search by DVF Unit, Malkangiri was conducted in the general area of Madhumal and Chilkalmamidi Reserve Forest under Kalimela Police Station of Malkangiri District bordering Sileru Police Station and Donkarai Police Station limits of Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district of Andhra Pradesh, resulting in uncovering of a major Maoist gun repairing and maintenance machine and equipment, explosive and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). This has led to recovery and seizure of a huge cache of explosives and other incriminating articles,” a statement issued by district police stated.
The explosives seized included among other things six kilograms of IEDs, five detonators, Maoist literature, it added.
