Mann and Kejriwal vow to dismantle drug networks; CM hits back at opposition over health rumors

Chandigarh, Feb 16 (UNI) In a massive show of strength at the 'Yudh Nasha Viruddh' rally in Moga, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal launched a blistering attack on opposition parties, accusing them of turning Punjab into a hub of narcotics over several decades. Chief Minister Mann, who reached the venue via helicopter shortly after being discharged from Fortis Hospital in Mohali, dismissed rumors regarding his health, asserting that he remains steadfast in his mission to uproot the political influence of the Congress, BJP, and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
Addressing the gathering, CM Mann alleged that previous administrations had institutionalized drug smuggling, claiming that narcotics were often transported in government-authorized vehicles with police protection. He remarked that Punjab, once celebrated for its champion athletes, had been reduced to a state struggling with substance abuse due to the negligence of past leaders.
Without explicitly naming senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia, Mann referred to him as a "murderer of the youth," stating that while legal loopholes might offer temporary bail, there would be no escape from ultimate justice. He further highlighted his government’s strategic approach to the menace, involving research-based planning, the establishment of de-addiction centers, and the demolition of properties belonging to high-profile smugglers.
