Manipur tribal bodies urge Home Minister to intervene in Manipur hostage crisis

Imphal, June 3 (UNI) The Joint Tribes' Council Manipur (JTCM) has submitted a memorandum to union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking urgent intervention over a series of alleged attacks, abductions and security incidents affecting Naga-inhabited areas of Manipur.
The memorandum, submitted on Wednesday through the Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong district, expressed concern over what JTCM described as escalating violence against Naga civilians in several parts of the state. The council urged the Centre to take immediate measures to ensure the safety and security of affected communities.
According to the memorandum, six Naga civilians were allegedly abducted on May 13, and their whereabouts remain unknown. The organisation also referred to an incident in Noney district on the same day in which armed assailants allegedly attacked farmers returning from agricultural fields, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to two others.
