Manipur media bodies appeal to Security Advisor to check attacks on journalists

Imphal, July 22 (UNI) Three media organizations of Manipur have asked the Security Advisor to the Chief Minister to provide adequate security to the journalists and media houses.
All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU), Manipur Hill Journalists Union (MHJU), and Editors Guild Manipur (EGM) in a letter submitted to the Security Advisor, Kuldeep Singh on Monday said the media organizations were concerned with the recent attacks on media personnel in Manipur, particularly the assault on Editor Khoirom Loiya and others.
The increasing threats and violence against media professionals pose a significant threat to press freedom and the democratic fabric of our society, it was added.
