Manipur: Independence day observed, CM appeals to fight divisive forces

Imphal, August 15 (UNI) People of Manipur celebrated 78th Independence Day on Thursday amidst boycott call by various organisations.
While attending the Independence Day celebration at the 1st Manipur Rifles Parade ground here, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the crisis in the state is unfortunate, but overcoming this and bringing back peace in the State should be the people's collective responsibility.
Noting that Manipur is for all 34 recognised communities who have been living together since time immemorial, he stressed that Manipur is not only for the Meiteis or the Nagas of any one community.

HNLC challenges ban imposed on it before tribunal
