Manipur: Govt announces Rs 10L ex-gratia for jawan who died in Pak firing

Imphal, May 12 (UNI) The Manipur government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of Constable (General Duty) Deepak Chingakham of the 7th Battalion, Border Security Force (BSF), who laid down his life following a drone attack launched from Pakistan at the Kharkhola Border Outpost (BOP) on May 10, under the Major Laishram Jyotin Singh Ashok Chakra (P) Scheme for martyrs and their families.
During the recent Indo-Pak border conflict, Constable (General Duty) Deepak Chingakham laid down his life and a statement issued by Raj Bhawan on Monday said as a mark of respect, a wreath-laying ceremony will be held in Bir Tikendrajit International Airport Imphal on May 13, where state dignitaries, including the Governor of Manipur, will pay tribute to the fallen hero.
Hailing from Imphal East district in Manipur, Constable Chingakham was a dedicated soldier who served the nation with distinction and courage. His sacrifice has left the entire state and the country in mourning added the statement.

The scheme focuses on the conservation, cultivation, value addition, marketing, and awareness generation around traditional and neglected crops. It aims to provide additional financial support
