Manipur: Fresh clashes in Churachandpur district, several injured

Imphal, Mar 19 (UNI) A man has died and several others have been injured in a fresh clash erupted between two different ethnic groups in Churachandpur since Monday.
Agreements were signed between the warring groups however clashes began on Tuesday night. Both groups resorted to firing, vandalism which prompted the Churachandpur District Administration to issue appeals to maintain peace.
District Magistrate Dharun Kumar S in an appeal said attacks have been reported and there is urgent need to restore peace and maintain law and order.
He appealed to refrain from engaging in any further violence and not to take the law into their hands. The problem started after an assault of a person by persons belonging to another ethnic group which escalated to violent clashes.
Security personnel are maintaining vigil and stopping people from resorting to violence.
