Manipur elders, students seek action against officials involved in demolition of Rajbari in Shillong

Shillong, Oct 15 (UNI) The Manipuri Elders’ Consortium Shillong (MECS) and the Shillong Manipuri Students union (SMSU) staged a protest at the demolished site of the historic Manipur Rajbari (home of Manipur royal family), also known as Red Land Building, here in Meghalaya on Wednesday.
The protesters demanded “accountability and strict action against the officials involvolved in authorising and executing the demolition.”
“The demolition of this historic building was executed under the directives of the Planning and Development Authority, Manipur government, in alignment with the development plan proposed by the Department of Art and Culture,” MECS Convenor, Munish Singh Ningthoujam said.

NALCO reports 35 pc jump in Q2 net profit to Rs 1,433 cr
