Manipur: 21 tribal villages kidnapped by Kuki militants freed; two found dead

Imphal, March 12 (UNI) Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand informed the state Assembly on Thursday that 21 Naga villagers kidnapped yesterday were released today, safe and sound. He said two other persons, however, were found dead.
Khemchand further said Central and state agencies worked together to rescue the kidnapped persons. He appealed to all to maintain peace and stop fighting against each others. The matter of kidnapping will be handed over to the NIA, he added.
Meanwhile Home Minister K Govindas giving details of the matter said that 21 Naga villagers who were kidnapped by some Kuki groups were released on Thursday. He said yesterday there was a report of some Naga villagers destroying illegal poppy plantation and kidnapping of two Kuki youths.

Congress earns another ‘Stain’ after emergency by defeating women’s reservation bill: Sinha

Patna, Apr 17 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha slammed the Congress and opposition parties after the Women’s Reservation Bill failed to pass in the Lok Sabha, saying the party had brought upon itself “another stain after the Emergency.”
Sinha alleged here that by defeating the bill, the Congress had once again betrayed women’s rights. He claimed that a conspiracy was hatched to defeat the Women’s Reservation Bill just by a margin of just 54 votes in the Lok Sabha.
