Man diagnosed with Melioidosis in Andhra village after 20 deaths

Guntur, Sep 8 (UNI) A 46-year-old resident of Turakapalem village was diagnosed with melioidosis today, where 20 people have succumbed to the mysterious disease in the last few days, District Collector S Nagalakshmi said.
Blood samples confirmed the disease at a laboratory, and the patient is undergoing treatment in a special ward at the Government General Hospital here. His condition is reported to be stable, the Collector added.
Health officials said samples collected from 72 residents between September 2 and 7 revealed four positive cases of melioidosis.
