Mamata defends Abhishek, says criticism against him has become an 'excuse'

Kolkata, July 15 (UNI) Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee strongly defended party national general secretary and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee, dismissing allegations by several rebel leaders and asserting that criticism of him had become merely an "excuse" for those leaving the party.
Addressing supporters through a Facebook Live session on Wednesday, Mamata said Abhishek continued to "fight like a tiger" despite sustained attacks from political opponents and central agencies.
"Calling Abhishek bad has become an excuse. If his wife could take their one-and-a-half-year-old child to the CBI office, a little compromise could have brought him the greatest relief. Those leaving the party are using Abhishek as an excuse. He is fighting like a tiger," she said.

Patna, Aug 16 (UNI) BJP MP and former union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today launched a sharp political attack on senior Congress leader and former union Home Minister P. Chidambaram, accusing him of displaying an "irresponsible mindset" by saying, "Modi ji, I am also mentally a Naxal."
Prasad told news persons here that Chidambaram's remark was highly objectionable, particularly because he had himself served as the country's Home Minister and was also a senior Supreme Court lawyer and Rajya Sabha member.
