Malajczuk smashes fastest U19 WC century as Australia rout Japan

Windhoek, Jan 20 (UNI) Australia’s batting sensation Will Malajczuk smashed the fastest century in ICC U19 World Cup history as his side thrashed Japan by eight wickets with more than 20 overs to spare.
Chasing Japan’s total of 201, Malajczuk, opening with Nitesh Samuel, put on a commanding 135-run partnership. The left-hander, in scintillating form, brought up his century off just 51 balls, hitting 12 fours and five sixes. Samuel remained unbeaten on 60 off 73 deliveries as Australia reached the target with ease.
Earlier, leg-spinner Naden Cooray claimed 3 for 31, while medium-pacer Will Byrom picked two wickets, restricting Japan to 201 for 8 in their 50 overs. Despite the loss, Hugo Tani-Kelly starred for Japan with a patient 79 off 135 balls, standing firm as wickets tumbled around him.
