Major fire in Mumbai ED office

Mumbai, Apr 27 (UNI) A major fire broke out early Sunday at the Mumbai Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in south Mumbai, with no injury reported.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) received the call at 2:39 am and declared a Level-I fire at the central agency office Kaiser-I-Hind building, located in Ballard Estate of South Mumbai.
Firefighters and rescue teams were rushed to the scene, and by 3:30 am, the fire was classified as a Level II, later Level III blaze, indicating a major fire incident.
The fire was confined to the fourth floor of the five-storey building, officials confirmed.
The authority stated that the emergency response included 12 fire engines, seven jumbo water tankers, two aerial ladders, two breathing apparatus vans, a rescue van, a quick response vehicle and an ambulance that were engaged in the rescue operation.
The fire was brought under control and was covered from all sides at 11:47 am.
According to the sources, the cause of the fire is under investigation, but important documents and records related to the major financial crimes which were under probe by the ED were damaged in the blaze, while official sources have not confirmed this to the media.
