Maharashtra Speaker warns Chief Secretary of Privilege motion over delayed responses

Nagpur, Dec 13 (UNI) In a stern directive issued during the ongoing Winter Session of the state legislature, Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar today warned that he would move a breach of privilege motion against the state’s Chief Secretary if responses to pending Calling Attention Motions were not submitted before the session concludes.
The Speaker’s ultimatum came after senior BJP MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar raised the issue in the Assembly, expressing frustration over the administration's lethargy in responding to legislative queries.
During the proceedings on Saturday, Mungantiwar drew the House’s attention to the growing indifference of state officials towards issues raised by elected representatives. He pointed out that MLAs work painstakingly to highlight problems from their constituencies through tools like the Calling Attention Motion, yet they often receive no direct replies, let alone concrete action.
