Maharashtra moves to scrap ‘sanad’ requirement for non-agricultural land use

Nagpur, Dec 10 (UNI) The Maharashtra government today introduced a legislation to eliminate the need for a 'sanad', the certificate issued after obtaining non-agricultural (NA) permission, aiming to streamline land-use procedures under the state’s revenue framework.
Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule tabled the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025, in the Assembly during the winter session here.
He said earlier amendments made between 2014 and 2018 had eased the NA permission process, but the mandatory sanad continued to burden citizens with an additional procedural layer.
