Maharashtra falter after Shaw's 71, Gopal spins Karnataka back in

Pune, Nov 9 (UNI) Celebrating his 26th birthday in style, opener Prithvi Shaw continued his brilliant run in the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy season by scoring a fluent 71 against Karnataka, reaffirming his revival in domestic cricket since moving from Mumbai to Maharashtra.
The right-hander, who has been in exceptional touch this season, struck his third half-century alongside a memorable 222 against Chandigarh earlier in the campaign. Today, Shaw's brisk 92-ball knock provided Maharashtra with an ideal start before wickets tumbled in quick succession.
After Karnataka posted a total of 313 in their first innings, Maharashtra's openers — Shaw and Arshin Kulkarni — forged a solid 98-run partnership. However, the momentum shifted as leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal led Karnataka's fightback, dismissing Kulkarni, Siddhesh Veer, and Ankit Bawne to leave Maharashtra struggling at 166 for five by stumps.
