Mahaparinirvan Diwas 2025: Maharashtra leaders pay tributes to Dr B R Amberdkar on 69th death annivarsary

Mumbai, Dec 6 (UNI) Maharashtra’s senior political leadership visited Chaitya Bhoomi in Dadar on Saturday to pay homage to Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on the 69th Mahaparinirvan Diwas. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, and Governor Ramesh Bais offered floral tributes at the memorial. Opposition leaders also participated, with NCP founder Sharad Pawar and former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray visiting the site to honor the architect of the Indian Constitution.
Addressing a gathering at Shivaji Park, Chief Minister Fadnavis said the nation “can never repay Babasaheb Ambedkar,” and India’s rapid progress rests on the strong foundation of the Constitution. “Babasaheb’s study was in all subjects, and it can be seen in the Constitution. Whatever we do, we will do according to the Constitution,” he said, emphasising the state government’s commitment to Constitutional principles.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde praised Ambedkar’s legacy and said the Constitution had been honored during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure. He added that lakhs of followers visiting Chaityabhoomi reflected the enduring influence of Ambedkar’s thoughts. “Jab tak Suraj Chand rahega, Babasaheb tera Constitution rahega,” he averred, noting that Ambedkar’s work empowered the common citizen. Shinde also reiterated that the state government is developing a memorial in the Dadar area.
