Maha: Unique Prisoner Release project gains momentum

Mumbai, Mar 20 (UNI) A Unique Prisoner Release Project is currently operational in 10 jails across Maharashtra which has emerged as an example for correctional facilities across India.
The Prisoner Release Project is being run by the Mumbai-headquartered Global Care Foundation.
Since its inception in 2017, around 2,000 prisoners have been released and rehabilitated successfully under the project.

BMC targets major tax defaulters owing ₹1,500 crore, Seizure notices served to 48 entities

Mumbai, Feb 14 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has intensified its action against large property tax defaulters, issuing seizure notices to 48 major entities within a week over outstanding dues amounting to Rs 1,500 crore. On Saturday, the civic body released a fresh list naming the 20 biggest defaulters, which include prominent real estate developers, mills and other establishments that have collectively failed to clear substantial arrears.

Special POCSO court orders temporary release of car belonging to dance teacher facing trial in minor harassment case

Thane, Feb 14 (UNI) A Special Court under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act in Thane has ordered the temporary return of a seized red Hyundai Verna car to dance teacher Dinesh Vivek Ghag, who is currently facing trial for allegedly following and gesturing to a 14-year-old girl. The order was passed on Saturday, after the court examined the plea filed by the accused seeking interim custody of the vehicle.
