Maha: Saksham App will be a boon for disabled and senior voters

Mumbai, Nov 8 (UNI) The Election Commission has created a mobile app called "Saksham-ECI" to facilitate voting for disabled and senior voters in the upcoming assembly elections across the Maharashtra state, the chief electoral officer informed through a media statement on Friday.
According to the statement, basic facilities are provided on this app for disabled and senior voters. All needy voters can avail of this facility by downloading the “Saksham ECI” app on their mobile.
Various facilities have been provided for the differently abled (PWD) voters on the enabled app developed by the Commission. To avail this facility, disabled voters should first download the app on their mobile.
Disabled and elderly voters need to provide their name, address, mobile number, etc. Information should be filled out in the app. Disabled and elderly senior citizens will be able to register their request for assistance required for voting on polling day through this enabled app, thereby enabling the disabled and elderly voters in the constituency to confirm their polling constituency and location with the system.
After registration through this app, transport arrangements—wheelchairs, assistants, helpers, etc. are arranged to transport the disabled voters to the polling station. Such facilities will be available through this app.
Many facilities are provided in the competent app. The app has large fonts and high contrast colours to make it easy to use for the disabled. It contains information about the polling station, including your polling station location, polling station, available accessibility, and official contact details. Persons with disabilities can lodge a complaint on the app about any problem they face while participating in the election process.
An accessible app is important for disabled people to participate in the election process, and this app is very easy to use. This will make it easier for disabled and senior citizens to register to vote, find their polling station, and cast their vote.
All disabled persons and senior citizens of the district should download the Saksham app on their mobile phones and take advantage of the necessary facilities. There is no doubt that this app is going to be a real boon for the disabled and senior citizens, the statement added.
