Maha: Pune-based social activist demands to start benefits of Pragati Yojana

Pune, Sep 10 (UNI) City-based social activist Anil Agawane on Tuesday criticised the BJP-led Mahayuti government for not passing on the benefits of assured progress scheme (Pragati Yojana) to non-teaching staff of colleges in Maharashtra and demanded to implement the same before upcoming state assembly election.
He asked Higher Education minister Chandrakantdada Patil to pay attention to this issue and give justice to these employees who have been in regular service for 10, 20, 30 years by starting the benefit of 'Ashwashit Pragati Yojana' (assured progress scheme) before the state assembly election.
"If government gives the benefits of the scheme on time, then the dissatisfaction among these employees can be removed," he expressed.

Suspended tehsildar Suryakant Yewale granted interim anticipatory bail

Pune, Nov 16 ( UNI) Tehsildar Suryakant Yewale, who had been suspended by the revenue department for ordering the transfer of government land in Bopodi, a residential locaity here, to a private individual, has been granted interim anticipatory bail by the Additional Sessions Court. The bail was approved on Saturday subject to his furnishing a bond of rupees 1 lakh along with adherence to other terms and conditions.

Beed court sentences father to 7 years for assaulting minor daughter

Beed, Nov 16 (UNI) A Beed court in Maharashtra has sentenced a man to seven years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually harassing and physically assaulting his minor daughter, District Public Prosecutor Ajay Rakh confirmed on Sunday. The judgment, delivered by District and Sessions Judge S. S. Ghorpade on November 14, also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on the accused, a resident of Shirur taluka.
