Maha opposition parties demand ECI rectify errors in voters' list prior to local bodies elections

Mumbai, Oct 15 (UNI) The opposition parties in Maharashtra after a second meeting with the top election officials today unanimously demanded that the elections to the local and civic bodies should not be held until the Election Commission of India (ECI) rectifies errors in the voters' list.
The opposition leaders, including former Chief Minister and Shiv Sena(UBT) President Uddhav Thackeray, veteran NCP(SP) leader Jayant Patil, senior Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena founder Raj Thackeray, Samajwadi Party legislator Rais Shaikh among others, today jointly met the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) S. Chickalingam and State Election Commissioner (SEC) Dinesh Waghmare and insisted that the ensuing local and civic body elections should be held in free, fair and transparent manner.
Later while talking to media, Uddhav Thackeray said the elections should be fair and that they should not be "selected".

Maharashtra approves new cardiac care facilities, State to establish cath labs in 11 medical colleges

Bus passengers evacuated after smoke scare in Mumbai

Rane warns of breaking alliance if Shinde Sena joins hands with Thackeray faction
