Mumbai, May 19 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly, Vijay Wadettiwar, on Monday sharply criticised top state officials for what he described as a serious breach of protocol during Chief Justice of India Bhushan Gavai’s maiden visit to Mumbai after his elevation as the country’s highest judicial authority.
Chief Justice Gavai, a native of Maharashtra, was in Mumbai on Sunday for his first public engagement since assuming office. The absence of key state officials including the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and Mumbai Police Commissioner-at the event drew widespread criticism, particularly from opposition leaders.
Wadettiwar voiced his disapproval on social media platform X, terming the incident “deeply unfortunate.”
