Maha govt waives fees for orphan students in grant-in-aid schools, reserves one pc admission quota

Mumbai, July 18 (UNI) In a major relief for orphan students, the Maharashtra state government has announced a complete waiver of tuition and examination fees for those studying in grant-in-aid schools.
Additionally, the state will reserve one percent of school admissions for orphan students, similar to the quota already in place for students with disabilities.
To avail of the 100 percent fee waiver, orphan students must provide proof that their annual family income is rupee 8 lakh or less. In case students face difficulty in producing the required documents, educational institutions have been instructed to recommend such cases with necessary documentation—to the District Women and Child Development Officer for further assistance.
