Maha govt to ban Coldrif cough syrup: Health Minister Abitkar

Kolhapur, Oct 6 (UNI) Maharashtra Health Minister Prakash Abitkar said today that in the backdrop of Coldrif cough syrup proving dangerous to children in Madhya Pradesh, the government has decided to ban the cough syrup in the state as instructed by the central Government.
Talking to reporters this evening, Mr Abitkar, who is also district guardian minister, said that following the deaths of around a dozen children in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, the central government has directed other states to ban this drug.
Mr Abitkar said there have been clear instructions given, which the state is implementing and there is no reason for the people to panic.
