Maha: CM inaugurates Mumbai’s 1st land-based cable-stayed bridge

Mumbai, May 13 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday inaugurated the long-awaited Mumbai’s first land-based cable-stayed bridge.
The Rs 266 crore project, jointly executed by the Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (MRIDC or Maha Rail) and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), replaces a 115-year-old bridge demolished in February 2022.
Spanning 385 metres with six lanes, the new bridge is designed to ease congestion and enhance east-west connectivity, promising to reduce peak-hour commute time by up to 30 minutes between Byculla and Brittania Industries.
