LVPEI issues safety advisory for safe & joyous Diwali

Hyderabad, Oct 18 (UNI) The L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) has extended Diwali greetings to citizens while urging everyone to celebrate responsibly and safely.
Emphasising that “safety comes from celebrating responsibly,” LVPEI In-charge of Emergency Services Dr Navya Cherukuri advised the public to observe essential precautions while lighting firecrackers and to act swiftly in case of any eye injuries.
Dr Cherukuri said a few careful steps can make the festival both joyful and accident-free. LVPEI recommended buying fireworks only from authorised sellers, lighting them in open spaces under adult supervision, wearing protective goggles, and keeping water handy for emergencies.

Kerala releases 2024 antibiogram, reports decline in resistance

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 11 (UNI) Kerala has published the 2024 State Antibiogram (AMR Surveillance Report), presenting an assessment of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) trends and the state’s strategy to curb misuse of antibiotics.
Kerala created history in 2022 when it became the first state in India to release an antibiogram. With the latest publication, the state has now released its report for the fourth consecutive year, showcasing consistent and structured action against AMR.
