Ludhiana schools and the railway station are on high alert following multiple bomb threats

Chandigarh, March 10 (UNI) Security agencies in Ludhiana were shifted into high gear on Tuesday morning after an anonymous email threatened to trigger bomb blasts at several prominent schools and on board trains.
The threatening communication, which also contained direct references to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, specified a series of timed explosions, claiming that blasts would occur in schools at 1:11 PM and in trains starting at 3:11 PM. The email further alleged that these actions were a response to "fake police encounters" in the state.
Following the receipt of the threat, panic gripped the administrations of the targeted institutions, leading to the immediate closure of DAV Public School and KVM School.

Shopkeeper shot at in Rohtak, critical after bullet pierces neck and cheek

Chandigarh, April 11 (UNI) A shopkeeper was left critically injured on Saturday morning after an unidentified assailant opened fire at him inside his store in Rohtak, Haryana, police said.
The victim, identified as Praveen, runs a cement and iron rod business under the name Rajlakshmi Cement-Sariya on Gohana Road. He was shot at point-blank range around 9:30 am.
