LoP Suvendu demands judicial probe by sitting Cal HC judge into Salt Lake stadium, seeks refunds for fans

Kolkata, Dec 14 (UNI) Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday demanded a judicial probe by a sitting Calcutta high court judge and called for arrest and resignation of state sports minister Aroop Biswas and state fire brigade minister Sujit Bose holding them responsible for unprecedented violence during the Lionel Messi show at the Salt Lake Stadium in which scores of football fans were injured in police lathi charge.
Rejecting an inquiry committee set up by chief minister Mamata Banerjee under retired judge Ashim Kumar Roy, Adhikari told a press persons that the alleged police brutality on the new generation of football fans needed to be probed independently by a sitting judge or a court monitored inquiry to unravel the truth about the facts leading to unprecedented violence in presence an world figure Lionel Messi.
He also demanded the return of the funds to fans, who spent thousands of rupees to see their idol, who was actually surrounded by the few family members and their close associates and celebrities.
