Leopard caught in cage in Nashik village, villagers relieved

Nashik, Sep 13 (UNI) A leopard that had been harassing farmers was caught in a cage at Maralgoi Khurd village near Lasalgaon in the wee hours today, ending an atmosphere of fear in the area.
According to the forest department, for the past few days, farmers in the village had found it difficult to go to their fields at night due to the leopard. Villagers had also become cautious out of fear of attacks on their domestic animals and had complained to the Niphad Forest Department.
Following the complaints, the department immediately began a campaign to catch the leopard by setting up a cage in the area. The leopard, which had been living in Shankar Darekar's vineyard and maize field, went straight into the cage last night while hunting and was finally captured.
