Beirut, Sep 17 (UNI) Hospitals in Lebanon are ready to receive a large number of victims in connection with the emergency situation caused by the mass detonation of pagers in different parts of the country, the head of the Lebanese parliamentary health commission Bilal Abdallah told Sputnik on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, the Lebanese national news agency NNA reported that dozens of people were injured as a result of the detonation of pagers in the southern outskirts of Beirut. Later, Lebanese broadcaster OTV reported, citing the country's Health Minister, Firas Abyad, that hundreds of citizens were injured as a result of the incident.
"All hospitals are ready at the instructions of the Minister. I contacted a number of hospitals that are far from Dahieh [southern suburb of Beirut], they are all ready to receive victims. We had everything ready for war, our hospitals were ready for the worst situations," Abdallah said.
